Deno Gold Mining Company Sustainable Development
Mining is the main industry in and around the region of Kapan. As a result, much of the population of Kapan relies on the mining industry for its survival. With so much community involvement, Deno Gold ("the Company") is focusing its attention towards the health and safety of its employees and the surrounding communities as well as on environmental sustainability in the region. Significant efforts have been made to raise risk awareness at the workplace and to analyze incident occurrences in order to reduce and eliminate similar occurrences. Work is ongoing with respect to community relations and environmental care.

Tree Planting Project
In 2010, a tree planting project commenced in the nearby communities of Darmanadzor, Antarashat, Arachadzor and Ukhtavair. The Company completed over 16 hectares of forest reclamation and 50,000 trees were planted.

Tree Planting Event - Tatev Monastery
In October 2010, under the initiation of the Head of the Environmental Inspection of the Syunic region and in the presence of Armenian Republic Premier Minister, the Governor and representatives of public organizations, a tree planting event took place at the Tatev Monastery.

Deno Gold Mine Rescue Team members became Armenia's first certified and recognized mine rescue team.

Community Support
With investment in nearby community infrastructure and public utilities, the communities of Kapan and Geghanush have experienced many improvements. Local artistic, cultural and sports groups are supported in their initiatives and special attention is paid to the elderly and disabled members of the community. Such projects are implemented in cooperation with the Red Cross and Non-Governmental Organizations ("NGOs"). The Company has received over 15 certificates of gratitude from various communities and organizations.

Children's Summer Camp
The Company organized and sponsored a Children's Summer Camp for children of underprivileged families which attracted close to 200 children over a two week period.

Donations to Community
The Company is also a major supporter of many projects in the local communities. Some of the most significant projects include the construction of the Peace Park to celebrate peace and prosperity; funding of a Red Cross project to assist lonely and elderly people; donations to the regional hospital and medical centers; participation in renovation projects with each and every kindergarten school in Kapan; assistance to the local orphanages both financially and otherwise; and support for children with special needs. Deno Gold is also a major sponsor for Kapan Day celebrations and supports cultural groups and sports. Together with the mayor of Kapan, Deno Gold supported local maritial arts athletes to compete at a European USHU Championship.

Transparency
Deno Gold plans to reopen its information center, which will provide information about current projects and allow the pubic to dialogue directly with company representatives. This function is currently performed by the Company's Public Relations Officer through direct meetings with community members and public announcements in local and Armenian mass media.
