Danko Jelev
Chief Geologist

Danko is a qualified geologist, graduated from Sofia University in 1981. Danko has over twenty years of experience in the Bulgarian mining industry. He has previously worked in various mining environments such as grassroots exploration, trenching and drilling programme supervision, underground mineral exploration and mineral resource definition.

Danko joined BMM in 1999 and spent time exploring for precious metals in the Botevgrad and Ihtiman localities before joining the newly formed team of geologists on the Krumovgrad licence during 2000.

Since 2000 and the original discovery of the Ada Tepe deposit Danko has spent a considerable amount of time working to understand the structural and lithological controls of the Ada Tepe gold deposit through detailed geological mapping and surface trenching in conjunction with an extensive drilling programme that was finalized late in 2004.

Danko’s ability to organise and work within a strong team environment is one of his main strengths, which coupled with a strong geological knowledge of the Bulgarian landmass makes him an invaluable member of the BMM team.
